We’re so excited to announce the launch of our brand new feature – electronic signatures. When we developed Hush Secure Forms, our customers let us know that we should include the ability to add signature fields as soon as possible. We agreed and got to work.
By adding e-signatures to our secure web forms, we’re giving our customers an easy way to obtain legally binding signatures from their clients. Switching from pen and ink to e-signing means much greater security, efficiency, and convenience. With one stroke (no pun intended), our electronic signatures feature is wiping out five pain points practitioners experience in their day to day practice management.
Less time in the waiting room
When was the last time you had this experience? You’ve had a full day of client sessions. Five minutes late, your next client hurries into the office only to spend extra time in your waiting room completing patient forms.
Your client could have filled out and signed your forms online in the comfort of their home, resulting in a much nicer experience for both of you.
With our e-signatures, your clients can sign when and where it’s most convenient for them. This means less time spent in the waiting room before the appointment. Your clients will arrive at your office thinking only about their session with you – not a clipboard of paperwork.
No more wasted time - you can focus on your clients
You went into healthcare so you could help others. It wasn’t because you like chasing down signatures and checking compliance boxes. Our web forms and e-signatures remove a significant portion of the office management burden so you can do what you love.
In just a few steps, you can send your forms, collect information and signatures, and file it all securely away for safekeeping.
If there’s one thing we’d like to accomplish with our services besides exemplary security, it’s a reduction in the amount of time you spend managing your practice and an increase in the time you give to your clients. That’s where you make a real difference. If our services can help, that’s where we can make a difference, too.
No more paper
Most of us are doing our best to go paperless as much as possible because paper can be a serious pain. The more paper you put into digital form, the greater your security, efficiency, and convenience.
Are you still printing out your web forms so your clients can sign them? Our e-signatures allow you to complete your client paperwork without having to print, stock up on pens, or scan. You’ll no longer have to designate extra space to file documents, and with fewer paper files, you’ll reduce the security risk associated with physical documents (e.g., theft, loss, fire). You might even find that with e-signatures, your practice has successfully crossed over to 100 percent paperless. We think that’s a pretty good place to be.
No need for a separate e-signature service
We’ve built e-signatures right into Hush Secure Forms, so you know they’re secured with the same encryption that protects our email and web forms. For many of our customers, this will mean no longer having to subscribe to a separate e-signature service such as DocuSign, Adobe Sign, or HelloSign.
By adding e-signatures to our suite of HIPAA-compliant communication tools, we give you a completely seamless signing experience. Start by building the form you want to be signed (or customizing one of our templates), attach the form to an email requesting a signature from your client, receive the signed form, and file. It’s that simple.
The entire signing process from emailed form to signature is HIPAA compliant and covered under the Business Associate Agreement (BAA) we sign for all of our Hushmail for Healthcare customers.
E-signatures are valid and enforceable
Not just any electronic signature is considered legally binding. Generally, for an e-signature to have the same legal effect as a handwritten one, it has to comply with the requirements of the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN) or the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA). Hushmail e-signatures comply with both.
Please note, however, that special rules apply to some documents, such as wills, adoption documents, and property contracts. If you’re uncertain whether or not e-signatures should be used for your particular forms, we advise you to check with an attorney to be sure.
E-signatures are available on most Hushmail for Healthcare plans
And be sure to read next week’s blog post. We’ll explain exactly how you can start using e-signatures in your practice.
