2020 is coming to an end! Next week, we’ll look ahead to 2021, but in this post, we’re recapping some of the year’s most notable events at Hushmail. This has certainly been a year we’ll never forget. Let’s take a look back at 2020.
A sudden move to virtual offices and practices
Practically overnight, we moved to a virtual office, and many of our customers moved to virtual practices during the lockdowns at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. We were fortunate to have much of the required technology already in place, and our move was fairly smooth.
We were also in a position to help many of our customers make the transition with e-signable secure web forms. For several months, we worked overtime helping therapists and other healthcare providers get their virtual practices up and running so they could continue to provide care to their clients and patients. It was a challenging time for all of us, but rewarding, as we saw many practitioners make the leap to online therapies that could help people struggling in their communities. Incorporating electronic signatures
We had just introduced e-signatures toward the end of the previous year. In 2020, we helped many of our healthcare customers upgrade their accounts so they could start sending their clients e-signable forms. E-signatures proved to be a necessary tool for the rapid transition to a virtual practice, and we were pleased to be able to offer them in a convenient package, along with the secure email and web forms they needed to maintain their HIPAA compliance. Considering all of the forms clients should sign, not having e-signable forms would have made the already difficult transition to a virtual practice even more trying.
We gave our customers PDFs
Adding PDF to our Hush Secure Forms toolbox gave our customers the ability to quickly and efficiently upload completed forms to their EHRs. Form submissions arrive with an attached PDF that can be printed, downloaded to a computer, or uploaded to an EHR software. The PDF includes pertinent information to assist in file management, such as form title, subtitle, and the timestamp of the date and time the form was submitted.
New calculated forms
As the COVID-19 pandemic continued, our template directory became a valuable resource for practitioners looking for ways to help their clients. Calculated forms, in particular, are tools mental health professionals can use to monitor how their clients are coping and help them spot problems before they get worse. This year we introduced two new calculated forms, the DASS and the DASS-21.
The DASS is a 42-item questionnaire designed to measure the severity of three related emotional states: depression, anxiety, and stress. The DASS-21 is a shorter version of the full screening consisting of 21 items.
We made it possible to share forms with your colleagues. This feature is particularly useful for group practices. With form sharing, instead of rebuilding the same form for everyone in your practice and reaching your plan’s maximum number of forms, you can build one form that everyone in your practice can send. Sharing can be a very cost-effective and efficient use of web forms that makes managing a practice with multiple practitioners much easier than before.
Just as the summer peak of the pandemic was starting to fade, we released conditional visibility for our forms. Conditional visibility means that fields show up according to preset conditions, allowing clients to receive a personalized experience when they fill out a web form. This gives our customers much greater versatility in the forms they can build and how they can use them. New Customer Care team members
We were thrilled to add new Customer Care Specialists to our team to help our customers get the most from their Hushmail accounts. This year we welcomed to our Vancouver offices Marc Carr from Dublin, Ireland, and Vincent Gauthier from Montreal, Canada, and profiled them on our blog.
